The Sound of Sabers

24 Jul

July 24, 2010

For the past few days North Korea has been rattling her sabers–AGAIN .  Each year when the U.S. carries out joint military drills with South Korea, the North issues dire threats.  Since the recent sinking of a South Korean military ship by the North, in which forty-six sailors were killed (the worst attack by the North on the South since the Korean War), the DPRK’S latest rhetoric threatening “nuclear deterrence” and a “sacred war” has the U.S. and other nations in the region on alert.

June 25, 1950–June 25, 2009

More than 100,000 North Koreans attended an anti-U.S.  mass rally today to mark the 59th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War.   The leaders of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) said that any attempt by the United States  to impose blockade on it would be considered an “act of war”, and they will respond with “decisive military actions.”  If the U.S. attacks them in any way, the DPRK has threatened to retaliate with a nuclear “fire shower”.

North Korean Ship Threat To U.S.

June 18, 2009

North Korea has been rattling sabers at the U.S. more than ever in the past several weeks threatening repeatedly, “An offensive without mercy”, and the latest news today is even more serious.  U.S. Military is monitoring a North Korean ship that left the NK harbor yesterday.  It is traveling near China’s coastline but is suspected of carrying missiles or possible nukes that could reach Hawaii.  North Korea has warned that if the U.S. attempts to board the ship it will be an act of war.  The UN has ruled that no nation can board without the ships permission.

John McTernan, author of “As America Has Done To Israel”, has a very thought-provoking article concerning North Korea’s threats.  The article is dated June 17, 2009 on his blog:  He takes a comparative look at the circumstances surrounding Japan just prior to their attack on the U.S. during WWII.

I posted that this warning from the Lord was fulfilled, for the “threat” was indeed manifest.  Over the course of the past six years, these threats have risen up and died down, but since the beginning of 2009, the threats have become more than just threats.
