Be Saved

The most important decision
you will ever make.

I don’t personally know any atheists, nor do I know anyone who does not want to go to heaven when they die.  This in itself is reason enough to do whatever it took to get there, but the same thing that secures your eternal destiny and gives you victory over death and hell also gives you victory in life.

In the third chapter of the book of John in the Holy Bible, we read how one of the religious leaders, a Pharisee named Nicodemus, went to see Jesus in the cover of darkness.  He acknowledged that Jesus was a teacher sent by God and concluded that no man could do the miracles that he was doing unless God was with him.  At this, Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus didn’t understand this. He could only think in natural terms and knew it was impossible for him to come out of his mother’s womb a second time.  Jesus then replied, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ Nicodemus was still having trouble wrapping his mind around this teaching.  Jesus explained, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” You see, all of Nicodemus’s religion and good works were not enough to get him into the kingdom of God.  Not even the sacrifice of an animal for his sin.  furthermore, it wasn’t enough that Nicodemus recognized and acknowledged that Jesus was teaching and doing miracles in the power of God.  Jesus told him plainly that he MUST BE BORN AGAIN.  It had to be more than just head knowledge and more than just fulfilling religious obligations.  It was a supernatural act of God through absolute faith in JESUS as the Son of God.

There was another devout Pharisee who became a devout follower of Jesus.  Paul wrote about this salvation, this being born again to the Romans–a heathen Gentile nation who were the enemies of God’s people.  In his letter to the Romans he very plainly shows them their fate and how to receive the love of Almighty God.  For the past 2000 + years, many have read or heard these words spoken and believed and became part of the Kingdom of God.  I pray that you will do the same.

Romans 3:23  “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

The ALL in this passage means just that.  We’ve all sinned and deserve the judgment of God.   We ALL need a Savior, and there is only ONE.  His name is Jesus, the Son of God.  Will you admit that you are a sinner and need a savior?

Romans 6:23a  “…The wages of sin is death…”

Sin has an ending.  It results in death.  We all face physical death, which is a result of sin.  But a worse death is spiritual death.  It separates us from God for all eternity.  Hell is real.  It is a place of eternal torment.  It was created for Satan and his angels, but humans who refuse to follow God will ultimately join the one they do follow—Satan—in this Lake of Fire.  Do you understand that because of your sin you cannot be in the presence of a holy God?

Romans 6:23b  “…But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Salvation is a free gift from God.  There is nothing you can do to earn this gift.  It is offered freely to mankind, but it cost the Son of God everything.  He was tortured and killed because of man’s sin.  He willingly offered himself as the final sacrifice for the sins of man.  All He asks of us is that we BELIEVE.  Do you believe?  Then, ask God to forgive you and to save you from your sins.

Romans 5:8,  “God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!”

When Jesus died on the cross He paid the price for all sin.  From the moment that Adam and Eve first sinned, God required the blood of an innocent animal to cover that sin.  When God sent His Son Jesus into the world, born of a virgin, with only the pure blood of God flowing through His veins, this perfect man became the perfect innocent lamb to take away the sin of the world forever.   Never again would there be a need for another sacrificial lamb.  Jesus paid it all.  He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross and rose victorious from death so that we who believe in Him and yield our lives to Him can also be victorious.  He did all this because He loved us.  Will you love Him back?

Romans 10:9,10,13  “…If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting  in salvation.  Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!”

God is no respecter of persons.  From the moment we know right from wrong, mankind chooses to sin, and any sin brings spiritual death unless it is covered by the blood of Jesus.  Will you this moment, believe and call upon the name of the Lord?  Will you ask Him to save you?

If you have done this, if you have been BORN AGAIN, I know that you will want to share this life transforming experience with others, and I would love to be one that you share it with.  Please feel free to share your faith in Christ Jesus with the world by posting a comment.  If you would like to communicate more with me concerning your new life in Christ Jesus just email me at janmeador@comcast.net.

If you have repented of your sin, believed in Jesus as the Son of God and sacrifice for your sin and asked Him to save you, you have just begun to walk on a magnificent journey with God.  God’s Word teaches us that though water baptism does not save us, it is an act of sanctification and a sign of consecration.  God commanded Moses to have his brother Aaron and Aaron’s sons stand before the whole nation of Israel, to immerse them in water, dress them in white garments, and anoint them with precious oil,  so that they could minister first to God and then to the people.  He commands us to do the same.  When we believe and are born again as a child of Almighty God, we are to stand before the believers and be washed and filled with the Holy Spirit.   Jesus, who was without sin, stood before the multitude of Israelites  at the Jordan River and told his cousin John,  who was in the lineage of the high priest,  to wash, or baptize (immerse) him before the people in order to “fulfill righteousness”.  When he rose up out of the water, clothed in the pure white garment of the righteousness of God and filled with the Spirit of God (the dove came and rested upon him as a sign), God spoke from heaven and proclaimed that Jesus was His Son.  Those who are born again greatly desire to follow Christ’s example and do what pleases God.  Pray and ask the Lord to lead you to a church where you can profess your faith to the congregation of fellow Believers and  be consecrated unto God through baptism.  He will lead you to a place that will preach His Word and disciple you in love to walk as Jesus walked—filled with the Spirit and living a life that manifests the power and presence of Almighty God!

…Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the First-born from the dead, the highest of earthly kings. He loves us and has washed away our sins with his blood, and made us a Kingdom of Priests to serve his God and Father; to him, then, be glory and power for ever and ever. Amen. Revelation 1:5-6
